Can Coronavirus Be Spread Through Food?

The coronavirus pandemic and its strict lockdown measures have left most of us inside our houses, too scared to go outside. You should be, why? Well, the coronavirus, which is also known as the COVID-19, doesn’t have any cure and there is no vaccine that can make your body immune from the deadly virus.

Those facts are scary, but luckily there are a number of things that we can do to stop the virus from catching us.

5 Things That You Can Do To Stop The Virus From Getting To You

  1. Wash hands with water and soap for at least 20 seconds.
  2. Wash hands with hand sanitizer that has at least 60 percent alcohol.
  3. Practice social-distancing.
  4. Stay at home and do not meet your friends or people that are vulnerable to the virus.
  5. Avoid physical contact.

The 5 things that we mentioned above are precautionary measures, they are not the cure and we do not guarantee anything.

With those things in mind, comes a question.

Can the coronavirus be spread through food, including refrigerated or frozen food?

In a statement that was released by the CDC (Centers for Disease Control and Prevention), they said:

“Coronaviruses are generally thought to be spread from person-to-person through respiratory droplets. Currently, there is no evidence to support the transmission of COVID-19 associated with food.”

As of writing this blog, there is no evidence that the coronavirus can be transmitted by food or by food packaging, but because there is no evidence it doesn’t mean that we should be careless. At this time, it is extremely important for us to take precautionary measures.
